Voicing the Prayer of the Faithful Community

Liturgical Writers ministry began at a time of 'experimentation' in the church when there was a sense that the prayers of the Mass could be freely and creatively 'reinterpreted'. Of course, we now know that this is highly inappropriate and we remain faithful to the liturgical prayers of the Church as they are handed down to us by Mother Church. However, there is still a need for members of the community to perceive and give voice to the needs of the community in the General Intercessions, also known as the 'Prayer of the Faithful'.

Liturgical Writers take turns in writing the first draft of the intercessory prayers that are said at Mass. These are later edited by the Director of Liturgy and the parish secretary assigned to the task - mostly for grammar and appropriate expression as proclaimed prayer (the subject matter of the prayers is respected as long as it is considered appropriate).
